A freshman of Binghamton University was fatally murdered by stabbing in five weeks. This accident leaves grieving and tense in the campus. Besides, there are other victims of this accident. Joao Souza, 19-year-old was attacked and stabbed in his dormitory around 10.30 pm on Sunday. According to the university’s police chief, Timothy Faughnan who had found Mr. Souze that Mr. Souza was fatally injured by stab wounds from a knife and he was reported dead when taken him to the hospital.
After the death of Mr. Souza, an engineering student which was graduated from Blind Brook High School. And, five weeks after the other Binghamton student was murdered. Haley Anderson, a nursing student was found dead in an off-campus residence on March 9, 2018. Besides, there is different suspect which was identified. According to The Press and Sun-Bulletin, Orlando Tercero, a fellow nursing student has been incriminated of slashing Mr. Anderson’s tires in September 2017. Meanwhile, there is a footage from Windham Hall dorm. There is a man in a dark hoodie and black pants with a mysterious mask which was believed as the attacker. University and police have announced that Michael M.Roque was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. However, he did not plead not guilty, he was being represented by a public defender.
The university president, Harvey G. Stenger mentioned to the reporters that those accidents were actually the hardest thing which was happened on the campus. “You may understand how this difficult situation must be for us, parents, and friends. He and his staff will be more focusing on keeping the campus safe with cooperating with a state law enforcement agency in order to protect our life and property.
